IMO Model Course: 1.41 – Passenger Ship Crowd Management Training
STCW Regulations: Paragraph 3 of section A-V/2 and table A-V/2-1 of the STCW Code.
Aim/Purpose: Crowd Management course aims to guide seafarers on how to deal with large crowds and passengers during emergency situations. This type of STCW training helps delegates learn how to; lead and direct others, assess the situation and provide an effective response, identify personal and passenger stress levels as well as become aware of the reaction patterns of passengers and other personnel in emergencies. As well as, recognising specific behaviours of passengers and other personnel.

Learning ObjectivesThis course contains the following elements:
1.Crowd control in an emergency situation on board
2.Locate essential safety and emergency equipment on board
3.Communicate effectively with passengers during an emergency
4.Demonstrate the use of personal life-saving appliances
5.Comply with the ship’s safety and emergency procedures

Entry requirements / Pre-requisites: The STCW Crowd Management training is mandatory for Masters, officers, qualified ratings and other personnel designated on muster lists to assist passengers in emergencies on the boards of passenger ships.

Course description: The purpose Crowd Management course is set up to offer crew on board vessels that deal with passengers on a regular basis. This course is taught in line with the STCW Code (2010): Regulation V/2 pa. 3,4, & 7 and Section A-V/2 pa. 3. 
Course evaluation: On completion of the Training for Passenger Ship Crowd Management training, each candidate will complete a test with multiple choices of 30 questions in 60 minutes online in synchronous way. The objective method of verifying competence is an online written test of 30 questions with a maximum of 9 errors and to be completed in a maximum of 60 minutes.

Aim/Purpose: The model course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for the training of personnel in crisis management during emergency situations on board passenger ships, as specified in section A-V/2, paragraph 4 and table A-V/2-2 of the STCW Code.
Learning ObjectivesThe objective is to provide trainees with guidance and information to gain the knowledge, understanding and proficiency (KUP) required to achieve the learning objectives. Trainees have to demonstrate their competence in passenger ship crisis management and human behaviour training in accordance with section A-V/2, paragraph 4 and table A-V/2-2 of the STCW Code.
The trainee should be able to demonstrate the ability to:
-organize shipboard emergency procedures.
-optimize the use of resources.
-control responses to emergencies.
- control passengers and other personnel during emergency situations; and
-establish and maintain effective communications.
Entry requirements / Pre-requisites: The STCW Crisis Management training is mandatory for Masters, officers, qualified ratings and other personnel designated on muster lists to assist passengers in emergencies on the boards of passenger ships. There are no specific entry qualifications for this course
